This nonsense Obama keeps repeating about making sure "the private sector is fully invested in green technology", is either the most dishonest thing he's ever said, or the most economically illiterate. That's all just code for a MASSIVE new tax on energy that will make everything in the US VASTLY more expensive. In that way it will reduce the living standard of all Americans, and will also INCREASE the unemployment rate.
Whatever the problems in the gulf of Mexico, letting government raise the unemployment rate and lower everyone's living standard is NOT a solution.

No argument that this is moronic, but you're setting an almost impossibly high bar here - most dishonest/economically illiterate thing he's ever said? That's one tough competition...
Fair enough, but I think the veneer on this is even thinner than usual.
These days I use this sort of thing as a metric. If you believe that government can rush the onset of 'green technology' by taxing the daylights out of energy companies, or carbon or whatever, then as far as I'm concerned nothing else you say is worth paying attention to. Either you don't really believe it, in which case you're a shameless liar, or you really do believe it, in which case you're a fool.
Well said. Honestly, this applies to just about every initiative this administration has undertaken - Bring health care costs down by making it an entitlement! Boost productivity by "spreading the wealth!" Achieve peace by embracing our enemies and alienating our friends! It's like living in some horribly twisted version of Alice in Wonderland...
... or like turning back the clock to the Carter administration. Same thing.
