We need to address the root cause of the problem. This was a desperate act of a (probably unemployed) woman suffering from years of oppression by rich white men. She was clearly expressing her frustration that Republicans care more about giving tax cuts to greedy Wall Street fatcats than extending her unemployment benefits.
Society should protect her 1st Amendment right to freedom of expression, and should punish the true criminals: Republicans, who are holding Americans hostage to their radical rightwing ideology. Besides, the death penalty is a violation of fundamental human rights.
