My wife has a friend who is a comedian in Europe. In response to this video he said "Yeah that seems like a bit of a stretch. It's like saying... first you trim the end of your mustache and the next thing you know... there goes Poland!"

I have an idea to bring the Dem state senators back from Illinois: pass constitutional carry in their absence, and offer to roll it back to shall-issue permits with training requirements etc. if they come back and allow an up-or-down vote on the budget. I read that the senate can conduct business that doesn't affect the state's budget without a quorum.
I think that's perfect. Run down the wish list the heritage foundation, the chamber of commerce and the NRA and start passing some laws. Pass dozens - hundreds - or even better - start repealing some.
Reach for every brass ring of conservatism. Make carrying a concealed handgun mandatory. Cut the corporate income tax by 90%. Make affirmative action illegal in the state.
I was going to leave it there, but then another one occurred to me.
I've read about instances where Milwaukee police have arrested people for legally open carrying in that city on standing orders from the chief of police there. So pass a law that the mayor, the chief of police, and any officers that make such arrests will be arrested by the state police and criminally charged if they harass and intimidate law-abiding citizens for exercising what 2A rights they have under state law. Penalties could be modeled after the "teeth" in the Posse Comitatus Act.
The objective would be to find a law that's so obnoxious to moderates that even a few Republicans would peel away and announce couldn't support it so that Democrats would have some hope of stopping if they came back.
