Many years ago, a salesman got in my grill about trying to cram a trade down my throat after the market closed.

He wanted to buy a block of shares in an illiquid stock that I made a market in right as the market closed.

I had no sellers and did not have a position. I scoured instinet, checked bloomberg, asked other salestraders if they had contact with holders.

No one cared.

I offered him half of his order about 3/4 above the offer with the assurance that I would work better on his order tomorrow.
He went ballistic, threatened to punch me, have me fired etc...
My boss at the time sees this maniac turning purple with rage and assumes I was the antagonist.
My boss got a dose of similar rage.
He leaves in a rage, and then calls me from his cell phone as he was driving home to Westchester - threatening me with all sorts of nonsense. I laughed and said "Drop Dead!" slamming the phone on him.

The very next day I am called into a meeting - the salesman had died of a heart attack on his treadmill and I was asked - if I lived or was in the vicinity of his home!

Some corporate douche tried to associate my verbal altercation with this guy as a proximate cause of his "natural death".

I almost called an employment lawyer right then and there.

Looking at the Ravi verdict - the judge and jury in that case would probably sonvict me for hurtful words...

what a country...
