- Thomas Sowell On Derek Bell
So far, I find Andrew Breitbart's final message about a link between Obama and radical Harvard Law Professor Derek Bell underwhelming. "Bell was supported by Obama and wanted complete ideological purity among academics." That places him firmly in the company of 90% of the academics I've ever met. What would be really shocking to me is if Obama didn't support that view.
"Obama supporters successfully hid that video from public view during the 2008 election." Also not a shock. Still hidden are his academic records, his writings, and virtually his entire history. But there was never an official news blackout. It wasn't a conspiracy, it was a consensus. The media agreed not to let America know about Obama's radical past because they wanted him elected, and this is no revelation either. I see nothing in the current release that will embarrass them into changing that view.
The fact is, the media is still firmly in the Obama camp. Te only way to get them to make even a passable facade of objectivity is if you embarrass them into it. Otherwise they will simply never do anything to properly vet Obama is they think it will weaken his reelection chances. I don't think this particular revelation is dramatic enough to do that.
If the Republican Candidate is going to win this election, he's going to do it over charges of racism, and after running the gauntlet of every single dirty trick anyone in the news media can think of to fling at him. They will not be fair. They won't even pretend to be fair.
They work for Obama.

When I think about it, Breitbart has often put up something that looks mostly innocuous to let the media pooh pooh it vigorously. Then after their done declaring it a non story and are committed to not following up on it, he reveals the second batch of video which shows the person in question standing there with the knife and all the blood and the heads rolling around on the floor etc.
I could be wrong of course but this is beginning to smell that way to me. There may be some HIGHLY incriminating video here after all.
Just my instinct.

If you apply this standard to Wall St, it is enough to initiate a full scale investigation by the DOJ.
While it seems to be a non-event or a "so what?" moment, why would Team Obama need to reply with a 17 minute spinumentary?
The beauty of Breitbart was that he wanted to put it out there, not as a huge "gotcha" moment, but more like ants at a picnic. Those attending the picnic : the Press and Team Obama are now compelled to swat away the little ants and skeeters.
I expect more biting flies and stink bugs to show-up at the Team Obama picnic as Breitbart has more stuff that will push the media to take a side. That is the desired effect.
The desired effect has already happened if you go to HotAir.com
With excellent effect - certain panelists on CNN's Soledad O'Brien show as well as the host get a sever dose of foot-in-mouth - in an effort to 1. denounce the video as nothing to see here. 2. when that doesn't work and the guy that brought you the video is more intelligent than they percieved, they throw out the race card.
here's the link - watch the hysterics:

So far this is my favorite summary of the Soledad meltdown:

If the Breitbart folks can provoke more reactions like this, we're in for a real treat.
