OK, that's overstating it a little. But who they're trying to save here is really beyond me. Is there some union that want's to eliminate the competition or something?
(The photo above is from one of my all time favorite films - "The Cowboys" with John Wayne, which would be made impossible thanks to this new Obama regulation.)

I wonder how the blue staters in Vermont will react to this one? Just about every dairy and goat farm up there is 'family'. I see kids and teens working those farms all the time when I drive through the Champlain Valley.
You think this is part of a scam to force farms to rely more on immigrant labor?

Actually, this is probably part of the general attack against small business and some influence from the big corporate agri-farms, all overlaid with a heavy dose of UN Agenda 21 (which seeks to redistribute all resources globally and as a part of that wants more government control over food production).
All in all it is scary stuff.
I don't know... I guess it's possible. But when it comes to the bureaucracy my first instinct isn't to blame a top down evil conspiracy. I think more often than not, it's just some idiot low level drone from sector 7G trying to expand their personal power, and the establishment leaves it in place because they know it serves the broader goal of centralizing all control over everything in the government.
Stupidity combined with the urge to boss people around has caused far more misery than conspiracy ever could.
Agenda 21 is not the stuff of conspiracy, it's simple policy. It is a bad enough policy that the Republican party (who rarely speaks out agaist any rot from the UN) has finally stated its opposition to it.
Indeed, you are right that some "little person" probably thought it a good idea, but those "little people" are more often than not the result of our educational system, and take it from someone who helped indoctrinate those 'little people" whilst teaching at Rutgers, those little minds are chock full of notions about sustainability and hatred toward anything smacking of western civilization, including capitalism, the nuclear family, free enterprise and pretty much anything that escapes the grip of government. Did you catch the regulations that would have forced anyone with a tractor to get a CDL? We ditched that one just in time last year. Follow the efforts to control all "water ways." In some areas there have been efforts to meter well water. The local stuff is often forwarded through the influence of ICLEI on behalf of the UN.
Nope, not a conspiracy, more like a Zeitgeist....albeit a carefully cultured Zeitgeist
@chess - Most reports in the area (I'm near Reading, PA) state that the Amish vote fairly regularly, and are generally Republican voters because they just want left alone. The GOP GOTV effort actually involves giving them rides, which they can generally accept (each sect is different).
steve..thanx.i understand the wanting to be left alone part all to well.
I grew up not-on-a-farm in farm country. I knew one eighth grade farm who lost a leg when it was caught in a grain auger. I knew five non-farm kids (between the age of 12 and 18) who died--one drowned, the other four died in car accidents. And farming is dangerous! Good gosh, I recall, during my non-farming adolescence, operating power tools, climbing ladders, and all sorts of things that will be prohibited to farm kids. Oh. My. Gosh!
Most of the people I grew up with who stuck with farming are absolutely APPALLED by this. They value the lessons instilled in them from growing up working on the farm.
Bad weather not too long ago elicited reminiscences from my high school friends about a bitterly cold winter in the 1970's when all the farm kids had to get up at four a.m. to get water pipes thawed to provide water for the cattle-the cattle relied on the farmer, and the farmer had no excuse to help the cattle. Me, in my non-farming household, I was able to roll over and go back to sleep. For us, the winter storm was an adventure, cooking in the fireplace, living by candlelight...
My question is after the feds are done protecting the farm kids, what are they going to do to "protect" the non-farm kids--ban swimming, sports, scouts, riding in cars, driving before eighteen...
(Loved--sarcasm alert, there--the fact that FFA and 4-H, county extension ans farm bureau, are in effectual at training, so a whole new bureaucracy will be created to do the agricultural safety training....)
"No excuse to NOT help the cattle." Oops.
