Because the headline on Drudge right now says "Record Number of Citizens Renounce Citizenship" and also because my buddy Rob asked me about it yesterday, I thought I'd relink this research I did on expatriating your income.

The attached article describes the feelings of one of the reported parties as "Gut wrenching" upon denouncing her US citizenship.
Do participants to this blog not feel a bit of consternation over some of the opinions and thoughts expressed herein vis a vis our government and its policies?
I guess this depends on your viewpoint but it seems to me that the gut wrenching sensation can stop when our government begins working for its people, not against them. In too many spheres right now it is the latter, rather than the former that seems to be in effect.
And though certain elected and/or non-elected personalities may be to blame I see it as the logical outcome of a teetering empire that is grasping at all lifelines to stay afloat and maintain the appearances of being in control, not to mention, filling the coffers.
Since we can no longer dictate the actions of China, Iran, North Korea (or affect the illusion of doing so) and as our domestic problems snowball towards critical mass, the unassuming ex-pat with limited means and a dependence on traceable/trackable electronic banking, will make a delectable target.
Heavens!
man.. good thoughts anon...sad but very good..monty python would say "cruel but fair".
