I kid our recently revived Senator Frank Lautenberg for wanting to put NJ on the cutting edge of 1970's thinking with careful top down central planning. But I was wrong. He must be having one of those 'senior moments' because he actually seems to think it's still 1935.
On his lucid days he's not a smart man. He's managed to be on the losing side of history on virtually every policy back to the Magna Carta. And now this idiot would like to see us re-embrace one of the most destructive polices of the New Deal:
The Union of Unemployed (UCubed) Activists is an Internet-centric “community service project” of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) — one of the country’s largest industrial trade unions.
...
The group is currently pushing passage of New Jersey Democratic Sen. Frank Lautenberg’s recent “21st Century WPA Act” to reinstate the New Deal employment program, and Ohio Democratic Rep. Marcy Kaptur’s attempt to rejuvenate another New Deal program with her “21st Century Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) Act.”
I think it would be better for everyone if whoever it is assigned the task of keeping Frank on his meds and making sure he wears pants to his office every morning, would simply keep him home. Let him be the Senator in absentia for NJ. As we saw yesterday at the Finance Committee hearings, Bob Menendez is certainly capable of embarrassing NJ enough all on his own.
But if he really insists on sleeping at the Senate offices rather than at home, then his staff should keep him from proposing any new business of state. It never works out well. And it's hard enough being from NJ without having to continue apologizing for this guy's senility.

Its a like a Twilight Zone Episode where a time traveller from all previous recessions and depressions wakes up only to relive the follies of our elected leaders.
It's true: you get the government you deserve.
yeah, in the meantime all the Democrat leadership can say is "The Failed polices of the past". It's surreal.
Latest rasmussen poll shows Mitt ahead. Also new he now leads in Wisconsin by 3.. BHO won that state by 14 in 2008.. BHO is gonna get nasty...I think they keep pounding on Holder as distraction until BHO has to cut him just befor econventions...I need a good veep.
Just blame the "speculators" and everything will be alright. I've been engaged in an argument with a European Socialist. He keeps telling me that capitalism is the cause of all this trouble. He even sites historic examples... I asked him fi he boaght any of the bonds his government had urged upon him... haha!
Yes yes... capitalism is definitely the cause. Which explains the tragic circumstances we see now in Hong Kong and Singapore.
lol!
When will Brian williams ask BHO how is that "doubling exports in 5 years working out?" Current acct deficit ?130 bil?????
I was doing some stuff last night and came across this---the average life expectancy in 1976 was 35... 35!!!!. So when Jefferson and Adams were thinking bout the Constitution and 3 branches of government they didnt inmagine that life expectancy would go to 84..Think how this might have changed their thinking.. Your NJ Senator wouldnt be there. He would be dead..Most if not all the Supreme Court J's wouldnt be there.. A lifetime appointment back then meant ? at best a a decade. Now it can be 30+years..I wonder if they were putting the Constitution together today how it would be different? I digressed. But I look at this old dudes face and scream
And while I might have both of you 2(TOM and Ikaika) what will you 2 be looking for when if if if Mitt gets stronger and economy keeps slumping that the market will start saying "thank God" and start tuning up cause BHO is hitting the bricks?.Any ideas how much crap the market can swallow and hold steady if it looks like a change at the top?
It's hard for either of us to give specifics chess, not just because of the regulations, but also because of our respective contracts.
But as a rule I think you can expect a 'risk on trade' thanks to the death of Obamacare and Obama's falling chances of reelection. Likely through the end of the year.
The first person replaced on the financial team will probably be Ben Bernanke, so make what you will of that as well.
Understand. Ive always hated to try and invest with the thought that bad is good and even good is bad,..I see bad numbers and its good cause we will get more QE..etc..But i see so much coiled up energy if BHO goes...If your thoughts on EU are right and they will keep acting to hold it together I could see Mitt with a really good first 100 day plan. A guy sent me a thought last night that the Saudis will keep oil down to help BHO cause they know Mitt is going to tryand cut that umbilical cord...Please please
haha... hey chess I agree - the average life expectancy was 35 in 1976 - thanks to Nixon, Ford and Carter! LOL!
Shit!! Nice catch,. Hell you know what i meant...dam!!!Now you got me laughing bout back then..I am not a crook!!!!!
