- What Are These Guys Smoking?!

Actually, it's the Colorado legislature so we know exactly what they're smoking. I had no idea they were so determined to see women defenseless in Colorado.

Did he say "judo"?
Colorado: where burnouts make laws.

I don't know about you dude, but I've seen lots of movies where teeny tiny little girls totally overpower the big strong men using things like 'judo'.

Just think about that 'charlies angels' movie, or the Kill Bill series. Why don't the women of Colorado just start using Samurai swords?

But not that "5 point palm exploding heart trick" she used at the end. That looked pretty gnarly. Maybe they had better pass a law against that too.

As a kid, I participated in Judo until high school. Got good enough that I competed in the regionals (1st step to qualifying for the Olympic team).

Yes, Judo can allow a much smaller person to overwhelm an unsuspecting attacker. In particular, if the attacker is stupid. Hell, I did it plenty of times in school (I was really small for my age and therefor a constant target).

There was a teenage girl (at the time) in our classes who was a pudgy and extremely shy. She would often vomit before starting in tournaments from the stress. Her and a friend were attacked by a pair of orcs in Asbury Park. She clobbered both of the guys in short order.

That aside.. Martial arts can only go so far and it takes YEARS to get good at it.. In my 20's, I went back to Judo for a while. I would be paired with black belts (it was the custom to have less experienced student paired with the experts). Occasionally, I would be paired with a woman.

I wasn't an unsuspecting opponent and in-class matches, I would win. Her skills were far superior to mine (she didn't stop practicing for a decade I like did) but being a man, I simply overpowered her.

Size and sex matters... even in martial arts.

On the FLETC campuses in this country the only armed staff are the contracted security (rent-a-cops). All the LEO's on-site are disarmed including the instructors. A friend of mine is an instructor on one site. He raised objections and was told, more or less, to be quite. If they're making federal officers and their instructors disarm at our training centers, you can be damn sure they're not going to allow carriage on college campuses.
