- The Retirement of Dr. Thomas Sowell

Those of you who are regular readers know the high regard I hold for Dr. Thomas Sowell. Not only has his writing greatly enriched my life and increased my wisdom, it also provided me with the inspiration for the design of a program trading system I built which produced a continuous profit for seven straight years. I've often called him the smartest man in America.

In case you haven't heard, The inestimable Dr. Sowell has announced his retirement from writing.

I'd love to say something profound here, but I'm at a loss. He is one of the greatest minds of the 20th century, of that there is no doubt. But I can only imagine the frustration and boredom that must come to him, after seeing simple, fundamental human truths being consistently ignored for all that time. There is a list of quotes here that will give you some idea. Here is my personal favorite:

“It is hard to imagine a more stupid or more dangerous way of making decisions than by putting those decisions in the hands of people who pay no price for being wrong.”

I don't know Dr. Sowell personally, though we have many acquaintances in common. I believe his work has changed my life in important ways. And though I'm sure it means very little in the grand scheme, I promise to never forget the many things his work has taught me.

I wish him a long, comfortable and fulfilling retirement.

- Gavin Does MTV (Very NSFW)

If you cracked open my cartoon brain while I'm writing this blog, inside my head would be a little guy who looks and sounds very much like Gavin McInnes, slapping away on a keyboard and swearing. In real life, he does it so I don't have to. In this instance he listens to the idiotic (and much ridiculed) "2017 Suggestions for White Guys" from the infantile kids at MTV.

- 2016: A Second Chance Christmas

This Christmas, leftist tantrums are everywhere. Fake hate crimes, airborne emotional outburst, hyperbolic tweets – America’s oversized children are all being naughty. They don’t like that the grownups are back in charge. They’re all screaming “Love Trumps Hate” while red faced with rage, and the monumental joke of it is totally wasted on them. As I’m sure will be the fact that their overblown expectations of perdition will never materialize. Instead they’ll spend the next 4 (minimum) years simply imagining their nightmares into existence, the same as they did with all their hopey-changey dreams.

Frankly, I’m sick of them.

Some people’s minds can never be changed by the inescapable facts of reality, because they don’t spend enough time in it. In a free country like this one, they will self congregate and retreat from the land of ‘things’ into roles like academia and government, where they are shielded from the personal consequences of poor decision making. But in a few days, their most visible and powerful member is going back to the teacher’s lounge where he always belonged.

That was the thing about Obama. It was never about his skin color, it was his academic outlook. It was his belief (and the belief of his advocates) that if he could just remake the laws of society, society would then change it's own unwritten rules to accommodate them. But that isn’t how society works. It’s upstream of government and only ever follows it’s own rules. The laws of government either match the rules of society, or they don’t. And when they don’t, it’s always seen by the broader society as tyranny, even in it’s mildest form.

The way I see it, this Christmas for America a kind of ‘second chance’. We have a second chance to make this country’s government a product of the will of the people, and not a tool for the people that control it to try to change the broader society. Nationalism is still being tossed around like a dirty word, but if it means that the American government will serve the interest of Americans rather than trying to shape their will, then that will be a big win.

For me, this Christmas is about second chances as well. My relationship with my daughter has never been better. She’s managed to get past those difficult 13-to 21 years a little early, and at 16, she’s already figuring out how talented she really is. Like her dad, she’s won the genetic lottery, and it’s coming as a great relief to me that she is now beginning to see that life will be able to deliver her some happiness in spite of it’s challenges.

My divorce is a few years behind me now, and after wolfing around NY (probably a bit more than I should have) I’ve met a woman who fits me like a glove. We’re like-minded enough that we finish each other’s sentences, and get all our mutual jokes. And in a city like NY so filled to the brim with shallow, pretty, self obsessed and useless things, that looks to me a big win. My understanding of women is much greater now than it has been in the past, so my expectations are set more appropriately. But in the near term I see reason for nothing but joy.

And this year, I gave my brother a literal second chance for Christmas. The blood in his veins is now literally on loan from me, complete with my DNA. His numbers are excellent, and though he’s in a lot of pain as a temporary side effect of his chemo, he was discharged from the hospital yesterday, and will be spending this Christmas at home with his family. He still has a long road ahead. With any luck, a very long one.

We are none of us finished. The Obama years have been a big set back for all of us, both individually, and collectively. We’re all bearing the burden of a world that has changed to make life harder for most, so it can be a little emotionally easier for a tiny few. But that’s about to change. It won’t happen quickly, or all at once, but I believe that it will begin to go in the right direction. And that’s enough hope for me.

To my many friends and family (If you're reading this then I mean you), I wish you nothing but success and joy. May your burdens be small and temporary, your triumphs large and lasting. Struggle in life is constant and moments of poetic joy can seem to be fleeting. May you all be gifted the presence of mind so that you miss none of them.

Merry Christmas.

- Bring It Like A Patron

Here is my favorite story of the week. Artists Want Ivanka Trump to Remove Their Work That Hangs on Her Walls.

I've always liked Ivanka Trump, and not just because she looks so much like my own daughter. As a businesswoman, she always seemed to me to be more 'on key' than her dad. She gave occasional interviews on CNBC in the past, and she always had a clear communications style, and something worthwhile to say. The fact that she is supporting artists doesn't surprise me - it's a common practice of the rich. The word Patron loosely translated to spanish means "Boss" (as in "Bring it like a ...".) and Ivanka always seemed like she understood that role.

The fact that the artists have now decided ex-post to be angry that she has supported their work by buying it, seems to me to be the perfect under the radar public IQ test. A kind of rorschach test of historical literacy. Because the value of art is quite literally only defined by the patrons who will support it, these artists are basically telling us that their views of the world should be devalued. They quite literally couldn't say anything more stupid about their art than asking a patron of the arts to divest themselves of it. It's a stunning example of the vacuous intellectual hubris of the left.

Modern art is a joke. No, I don't mean I think it's a joke (though I do), I mean it's actually a joke. It's supposed to be an ironic commentary on our virtueless society. It's really just a reflection of the nihilism of our artistic community, and their belief that the bourgeois western world could never produce anything of real value. It's particularly ironic that they are complaining about someone from the Trump family, who have their names on much more permanent structures, all over the world. Their "art", only seems beautiful if you get the joke of it, and personally I never have.

The solution here is for Ivanka to take them at their word, and to never buy anything they create, ever again. If I were her, I'd do my best to persuade others to do the same. Let's see how superior they all feel when they're asking someone if they'd like fries or a shake with their next "beautiful" creation.

The first comment on the linked article couldn't have said it better. Proving yet again that brevity is the soul of wit, commenter "Guns And Liberty" simply said: "Dear Artists. Lick my nads." Succinct Brilliance.

- Normalizing The Swastika

I'm detecting a trend in the news. As you know, the majority of "right wing hate crimes" turn out to be fake. The Alt-Right has been talking about narrative collapse for years. But the upswing of fake hate crimes in the post Trump world has finally brought this to the attention of the periphery of the "fake news" obsessed Mainstream media.

Ace has a really great piece about it here.

As a coincidence, one of the more well publicized incidents of "fake hate" involved a girl from Baruch College in New York City, which is just a few blocks from my apartment. On the day after the election when it was supposed to have occurred, I walked proudly from my apartment to a bar on 28th st. to have a drink with a like minded friend, and quietly celebrate our escape from the Clinton machine. I proudly wore my MAGA hat, and was seen by a large number of Baruch students, most of whom looked at me with terrified horror. When I got to the bar I told my friend that I had probably "triggered" a half dozen people on my way over. Wouldn't it be fun if she was one of them?

But the trend I'm noticing is something else. These hate fakers love swastikas. No one else on the alt-right would ever think about using a swastika for anything. It doesn't represent a new idea, it represents a failed ideology which was resoundingly beaten in a major global war, and has been subsequently blamed for a great deal of crime against humanity. The swastika isn't a part of the alt-right, but in the imagination of the left, it naturally is.

The net result is bringing about the trend I mentioned. I think these crazy kids are going to end up unintentionally normalizing the swastika. It's already become my benchmark for determining a fake hate crime. If there is a swastika involved, it's an obvious fake. But it's more than that. It's use is becoming so common, I can imagine it actually being used in an ironic manor, so long as the irony is obvious enough. I could see it being displayed in SNL skits, and other spoof comedy pieces. This, to my knowledge, has never really been done before.

The closest thing I can think of was Mel Brooks, who was so funny he could get away with Hitler jokes. But in cases like Blazing Saddles or others, it was always specifically intended to indicate Germans plucked from the 1940's with their ubermensch fantasies in tact. The current usage is a more modern effort to brand anyone to the right of Paul Krugman as "the same as a nazi". Mel Brooks may be left leaning, but even he wouldn't think that's funny. The modern version is more of an inside joke for leftists, who don't realize what a tiny minority they are, so it's really a joke on them, not everyone else.

And what's even better is that the left doesn't get the joke. As an example, Amazon's, "The Man In The High Castle" involves an alternative history where the Nazi's bombed Washington with an A-bomb and won WWII. We're naturally supposed to see the Nazi society as horrible, but they perform all their horrors off screen. Their villainy is both implied and assumed. And since all their worst sins are hidden from the view of the camera, the society they show for the Nazis involves stable nuclear families who actually care about one another. There is no shattered culture, no false rape accusations, no bullying protest marches based on fiction, no middle aged men in dresses following pre-pubescent girls into the ladies room. All the sins are all hidden from view and only the virtues are shown.

Between that "pleasant on the surface" 2 dimensional world, and the constant use of the Swastika in all the fake hate crimes, I can imagine the Swastika being renormalized as a counterculture statement from the left. They'd do it as an insult to the right, but like the the Amazon TV show, the joke will be missed. I can see leftist enclaves them producing T-Shirts of Che Guevara with a swastika on his beret. Creating fashion items which 'resemble' Swastikas without actually being swastikas, or other 'clever' statements which achieve the opposite of what they intend.

This is what happens when all your demons are imaginary. You quite literally imagine them into being.

- "Defiled" By Reality

I haven’t been able to find a clear description of why a Canadian man took his pregnant American wife backpacking in Afghanistan in 2012 (apart from the one provided by Darwin), but as you would expect, they were subsequently “kidnapped” by the locals and held for ransom. When interviewed a few years ago, his father offered the following:

"They're both kind of naive, always have been in my view. I don't really know why they went there," he added. "I assume it was more of the same, getting to know the local people, if they could find an NGO or someone they could work with in a little way."

Sounds like typical progressive idiocy to me. Let’s see if we can find any other indicators from their life in the west that might offer some clues to their motives. Here’s a photo of what they looked like when they went off on this ‘adventure’:

And here is what they look like now:

We hear a lot about progressives projecting their hate, but they actually project all kinds of emotions. I don’t think these people were evil, just stupid. They imagined that “we’re all the same deep down” and thought they could project those feelings onto savages, and then stroll unarmed and unprotected, through an area of the world where even the US Marines are a little reluctant to go without air support.

One would hope they’d learn something from this experience of being “defiled by reality”. They could then make a nice living going around to universities explaining to other progressives how their ridiculous ideas have no bearing on real life.

But I doubt they’ve really learned anything. Like most progressives, they simply aren’t the learning type. It didn’t require a great deal of intellectual muscle to avoid a trip to Afghanistan in 2012, yet they went there all the same. Someone who thought an idea like that was a good one, is unlikely to be taught by anything else - even the woman being “defiled in front of her children”.

- Trump's Inauguration

If you read the broadsheets and the tabloids, the left believe they have something to cheer about. Since the American Left is mostly consumed by appearance and perception, by not having an "A-lister" appear at your inauguration is a sign of some sort of impudence for the incoming administration. The NY Post is reporting that Andrea Bocelli has withdrawn from the event.
Who cares? The only people that care are the liberal press. They will compare Trump's day to Obama's... in fact they will compare all past and future inaugurals to Obama's.
The Obama inauguration was a hollywood scripted piece of hog-wash complete with overblown accolades to the new guy from idiots like Bono of U2 and Shakira. It was too long, too overblown and completely set the stage that the Obama Admin was supposed to be like when Moses parted the Sea...
Nothing Changed, in fact it could be argued that Obama's best day in office was his inauguration. Everything was down-hill from there. I'm not much for making the POTUS inauguration a media event.  I understand that this is the only thing the Left has. They lost the POTUS, SCOTUS, and Congress. My hope is that Trump can use this moment to spank the left on another level.
Don't hire A-listers to sing and dance at your gig. There are a number of disabled vets that would gladly take the gig. As there are unemployed coal miners and steel-workers that could also fit the bill.
It would be an opportunity for America to celebrate Americans rather than celebrate the incoming president. Trump always says its about the movement and not about him.
Just think of how frustrated the writers at SNL or Colbert or The Daily Show would be if they had to lampoon a wounded vet or unemployed steel-worker for singing at the event.

- The Clinton Archipelago

I tried to clip the image from Zerohedge, but it's not being very friendly about it. You'll have to click the link. But I think this is the best graphical representation of the concentration of Democrat support in 2016 that I've seen.

What it doesn't include is the fact that they also held the Whitehouse, and therefore the Justice Department, and virtually 100% of Academia. And from that lofty tower the people who live in these few tiny places tried to dictate morality to everyone else, and to enforce their views with the law. Forget the fact that the entire "popular vote" advantage to Hillary came from California. Forget the fact that Trump really didn't win by all that much, or that he was a terrible candidate who probably only won because the other candidate was even worse. In fact, forget politics in it's entirety.

Instead, try thinking about this as you look at that map. Culturally, the military in this country is overwhelmingly "on the right". And the region of the country except these few tiny isolated locations, represent the home of the most heavily armed civilian population on the planet. So when the liberals finally decide to bend the rules one lawyer too far, and try to actually "ban guns" or one of their other 'final solution' style progressive policies, how long exactly do you imagine it will take for a citizenry who no longer consents to be ruled by these people, to thin them out?

The Mexican border wall that Trump promised isn't a bad idea. But if we really want to make America great again, we should be building it around these tiny progressive islands.

- Dear "Charles Walz" ...

I saw your little tantrum on Facebook wishing death and destruction on the people that don't share your politics. That's me. I'm a conservative Republican living in New york City. And I have a few things to say to you about it.

So let's get this out of the way first. I know (actually - we all know) you aren't going to do a damned thing to anyone. You have no real courage and you aren't a man of action. You're a placeholder - the kind of guy that's never been all that good at anything. You took a government job for that very reason, because you knew that you could never compete and win in the private sector. You aren't skilled, talented, or charming. You wanted safety and security, but you didn't want to have to meet performance standards. So a job working for New York State was just about perfect for you.

You were apparently too stupid to realize that when you had another of your little outbursts it would probably cost you your job. It might cost you your pension too. I certainly hope so. There should be costs for a person who so despises his fellow man. It shouldn't be so easy for a guy like you to make ends meet without changing your behavior. But you never know. The State of NY doesn't like to punish people just for being stupid, or the place would be empty. Your bosses aren't all that much more competent than you are, so you might save your ass yet. I hope not.

As for your behavior itself, I personally am not that put off by it. Yes... it shows you as a weak, frightened, horrifying little man, but that was probably obvious to everyone around you long before your outburst. The truth is, I think most Democrats feel the way you do, certainly the ones who are as mindless as you are. That rage and hatred you demonstrated is shared by them, and is the reason they're always projecting 'hate' onto everyone else. You aren't even special in that way. You aren't smart enough for that.

That stupidity of yours, that's why you bought into the liberal narrative with such vigor. Because it makes you feel like you matter more than you really do. It lets you proclaim your moral superiority over others. It's virtue on the cheap. All the self congratulation with none of the sacrifice. It's true that the groupthink of it means that you can't have ideas of your own, but you never had all that many anyway, so it probably didn't seem like much to give up for you. But those of us who are smart see you for precisely what you are. You aren't fooling anyone.

So here's the thing dipshit... I'm not frightened by you and I'm not angry at you. I'm not anything at all at you. You couldn't be more insignificant to me. I think you're exactly what you seem to be - a third rate blowhard from sector 7G who isn't capable of ... well really much of anything. you're a nothing. A no-one. And you'll probably always be that way. Except for your idiocy at proclaiming your hatred for America in such a public venue, you wouldn't have ever been known for much of anything. My bet is that you'll have a very tiny funeral.

But just in case you still have a few working brain cells that can tell the difference between a thought and a feeling, let me try to teach you a little something. All that rage you feel? That isn't at us, it's at yourself. You hate yourself for being such a nothing. You hate your life as a nobody government drone - a soulless man in a soulless job, that fritters away his whole life filling out forms under fluorescent lights. You are unloved because you're unlovable. You aren't the brave champion you think you are. You're cannon fodder, just like all the other liberals who can't see their leadership for what it is.

I'd insult you, but I don't think I could say anything about your life that would be worse than what your life already is. And since it's obviously already torture for you, I'm content to let you suffer on your own.

Now go away little man. Go back to your empty little life where you belong. No one cares how you feel.

- Russian Ambassador Assassinated in Turkey

The Russian Ambassador to Turkey was just shot dead in the middle of a speech at an Art Gallery.

I can't wait to hear what Obama has to say about this. As you know, there is no better response to this kind of madness than accusations of racism, misogyny, xenophobia, and a general air of weakness and servitude (or maybe that's just my stockholm syndrome finally kicking in after 8 long years.)

- The Queen Of The Alt-Right

In case you missed it. For those of you who don't consider yourself "alt-right" he makes a very interesting point. If (according to the media) the Alt-Right is all about racism, misogyny, homophobia, hitler salutes and all the anti-virtue signals, then why in the world are they crowning Milo the queen of the alt-right? Maybe it's possible the media isn't bothering to tell you the whole story.

- The Normalization Of Mental Illness

Contrary to what the NG cover says, the best thing about being a girl in 21st century America is not having to take responsibility for your own actions. Feminism tells us this unambiguously. If a woman fails to break the fictional 'glass ceiling', chooses a job that is more fun and therefore pays less, or gets in any trouble with anything she does, it is without a doubt, the fault of straight, white men. This is right on page one of the Feminist hymnal.

No wonder 90+% (online reports vary a little) of the people who wish to change their gender are men wishing to change to women. Who wouldn't prefer to live in a permanent state of protected adolescence, with a parent always nearby to take the blame for our actions.

My personal feeling is that the parents of this 9 year old should be thrown in prison, where the inmates usually take a very dark view of child abusers. No 9 year old understands who they will be in adulthood. They are at that point very much a work in progress. An incomplete human. To apply something as horrid as trans-sexualism to them at that age is, in my mind, a clear abdication of the responsibility of the parents, and with that abdication, they should also lose their rights as parents. few years in the general population seems perfectly appropriate, particularly if the guards 'accidentally' left a few gallons of gasoline and a dozen cigarette lighters lying around.

As for the child, I would suggest immediate psycho-therapy, if the psycho-therapy industry hadn't already been shattered into useless fragments by the very same safe space, avoid stress, everything is the fault of the white guys "thinking" that has ruined the other social sciences. when it comes to psychotherapy the asylum guards are regrettably among the worst sufferers, and have abandoned anything like reasoned thinking. Tragically this kid is almost certainly already lost. There are no longer enough sane people in our culture to guide him back to something resembling sanity himself.

But before all you girls rally around to burn me at the stake, let me ask a few brief questions. What ever happened to the idea that there are lots of ways to be men? Wouldn't this kid be better off without major surgery followed by a lifetime of heavy doses of mind altering chemicals? Couldn't he simply spend his life like pajama boy drinking hot cocoa and talking about medical insurance? Think of all the advantages he'd have. He wouldn't have to deal with any of the oppressive burdens imposed on him by the patriarchy. He'd instantly earn 9 gazillion percent more in his chosen field. He wouldn't have to worry about being raped, eye raped, manspreaded out of his seat. Surely a few less orgasms in his life would be worth that?

What's more, how does this work exactly? Being born a white heterosexual male automatically makes me a 'potential rapist' even though I don't think it has. But him being born with verifiably male genitalia plus his particular form of mental means that he is now a "girl"? How can man or woman be subjectively defined while "rapist or non rapist" cannot? How is it the only people who are born into their condition are the people you think are indirectly responsible for all the bad things that have happened to you?

The only obvious conclusion here is that this is the normalization of mental illness. We have let the inmates take over the asylum. And as a culture, to the degree that we allow these people to define our moral character, is the exact degree to which we are doomed. This story is an indication of a culture which has utterly failed. No clearer evidence of a child who has suffered severe abuse in the guise of excess compassion, has ever been made more clear.

Stories of abused children make me very angry personally. And I believe that if we lived in a just world, extreme measures would be warranted. If Bruce Jenner wants to dress like a girl or cut off his johnson as a 60 somehting man, then I'm inclined to let him. I think it's tragic, but it has no direct effect on me so I'm not much moved to action on it. But to allow, let alone to encourage, this action on the part of a 9 year old child, is an immoral act in the deepest sense. And if I'm not mistaken, it would be seen as such by any of the world's varied religions. Personally it makes me as furious as seeing a child locked naked in a dog cage, or beaten bloody with a whip. It is the same exact kind of torture in my view.

In a perfect world we would lock up the parents, carefully try to reeducate the kid, and since their choice of profession is such a reliable measure of their despicable character, hang the journalists involved in this story (and any others you can get a firm grip on) from the nearest lamp-post.

- Kurt Eichenwald World Shatters

Personally I found the Kurt Eichenwald - Tucker Carlson interview tough to watch. It reminded me of a pathological high school kid desperately trying to explain why it was perfectly reasonable for him to have driven his parent's car into the lake. "I'm trying to tell you a Deer was in the road!" He ignores the fact that he was drunk, he had 5 of his drunken friends with him, and he had the car in the first place because he boosted the keys when his parents were asleep. They want to hear about that part, but he doesn't want to let them change the subject.

It's called frame control. Eichenwald knew he couldn't defend his outrageous claims so he spent the time flailing about in an effort to change the subject to a topic he could handle - whatever that was. Tucker Just laughed at him. Google it if you haven't seen it already. Maybe you'll have better luck getting through it than I did.

The aftermath however is troubling. Immediately after the interview there is a twitter storm that Eichenwald posted and then deleted, that ran right through the dangerously delusional rantings of a man who sounds like he's having a breakdown. What I think we're watching is the end of a journalist's career here, and it couldn't happen to a nicer guy. Eichenwald, who in honesty I had never heard of before this incident, seems to be one of those true believers whose entire self image is wedded to the liberal narrative, and as it falls apart, he falls apart.

Apart from that, he also thinks people are as stupid as he is. He thinks he's a master wordsmith, not a second rate union writer with a face for radio. He no doubt left that interview feeling like he had wiped the floor with Tucker, and only realized there was a problem when he saw the faces of the people back stage.

I expect we'll see more of this. The most terrified liberals are terrified for a reason. They know that if the narrative falls apart then they are just second rate (on their best day) and they'll have to confront that fact. They might not all pretend to be their wives or fake a seizure like Eichenwald has, but they're going to do something.

For a long time I've had the theory that more potential assassins are liberals because they tend to be more emotionally unstable than conservatives. Their ideas of cause and effect is all jumbled up so it's easier for them to convince themselves that killing one man is more likely to make a big difference than it really is. Eichenwald strikes me as that kind of guy. Frustrated, defensive, deep in a fog of denial about his motives, his strengths, and his weaknesses. If he had just a bit more courage, I think he could easily snap and pursue violence.

Personally I think Tucker can take him. I hope he doesn't have to. I hope Eichenwald and the rest of America's "journalists" get help while they can. Because one or two of them may have more courage than Kurt Eichenwald, and that might lead to real tragedy.

- Speaking Of #NeverTrump

Has anyone else noticed how quiet things are over at NRO since the election? I think this post over at AceHQ explains a lot of that.

Personally I think that's a shame. It never had to be this way. I complained for months to whoever I could get to listen over at NR that if they just stood up like men with regard to all those baseless accusations regarding Racism and Misogyny, then their voices could be leading the movement on the right rather than dwindling from it. Instead they much preferred surrendering to the left on those issues, and taking their role as "the guys fight with nobility but fail" in the liberal narrative.

Maybe there was something I didn't understand about their fundraising and the ideological commitments they made in that regard. I don't know. Maybe they really were just inside the liberal bubble when it came to those issues, and they couldn't see that the arguments had all moved upstream from politics.

These days, we hear comparatively little from them, and that's OK with me. If I want insults I'll get them from the NYTimes and CNN. I don't have to read Ben Shapiro to get accused of being a guy who dreams of "camps and ovens". I regret the lost friends, but I guess this election is one of those things that reminds you that maybe they were never really my friends anyway. Just allies of convenience.

- Thanks #NeverTrumpers

This effort is unlikely to succeed, and we should all be glad for it. If it did, then the cold civil war the left has been using to stomp the right to bits for a few decades, would instantly turn into a hot civil war. Lacking the facility for peaceful transfer of power, they'd have no other choice.

Just imagine it. At the behest of a bunch of celebrities (whose vast wisdom and foresight is well documented), the Republican electors defy their oaths en masse, in order to expressly deny the voters their Democratically elected presidential candidate. A man who won the election specifically because the people that voted for him imagined (right or wrong) that the two traditional parties are so unified in their view that their votes don't matter in the first place.

Trump won because middle America was unwilling to accept their role as the 'bad guys' in the progressive narrative. They believe that because both Republicans and Democrats submit to this view, and that they're being treated worse than other Americans, without good cause. This effort, if successful, would make them certain of it.

But for the #NeverTrump movement, our idiot celebrities would never consider this tactic. They don't have the creativity for it. They are bolstered only because the Republican party was so deeply split during the election between the establishment who accepted the liberal narrative, and Trump, who did not. But for that, they'd be busy burning all Republicans at the rhetorical stake as racist, misogynist, homophobic monsters. Instead, they've found what they believe are "tolerable" Republicans and it's to them that they're making this appeal.

Luckily, it will probably come to nothing.

- Fat Sluts For Clinton: The CounterProtest

The “Fat Sluts for Clinton” march is now moving forward on the day after the inauguration, since there was some initial confusion about the permitting process. And I just came up with what would no doubt be the perfect counter-protest.

If I had the cash (I don’t… but if I did) I’d hire a bunch of male strippers to counter protest the march. I’d have them dress in as little as the weather would allow – maybe under longer coats or something that can be opened for the girls, and have them carry pro-Trump and maybe a few Pepe the Frog signs as the women marched by. They could blast the music from Les Miserables and wiggle around just enough to distract the girls.

It would be great fun seeing the girls trying to focus their mental energy on their political goals, when their real goal was just a few feet away with a different political message. I imagine the chants fading out as the girls caught sight of the counter protest “Hey Hey!! Ho Ho!! Donald Trump has got to…. hey look at that! hey moonbeam, what are those guys doing over there? Those guys right there! OMG look!”

This hits all the buttons. It sexualizes the women over their own objections, and thus trivializes their political message. It divides them (as a prelude to conquering) by separating the heterosexual and homosexual contingents of the women. And it gets right to the core of Feminism which isn’t about equality, or tyranny, or anything political except making sex risk free for women. In a perfect world, and with careful placement, it may even force the speakers into a Hillary Clinton style loss of composure where she screams “Stop paying attention to those half naked men and listen to me!”

The MSM would bury it of course, but we could plant a few conservative women with smartphones in the crowd and have them tape individual reactions. It would provide months of entertainment for youtube watchers.

Alas, I don’t have the funding. But wouldn’t it be fun if I did?

- Turnaround Nation

I'm recovering from my little medical procedure nicely, and though my bro feels awful, he's doing as well as can be expected. Even the awful symptoms he has right now are not terrible compared to the scope of possible outcomes. So we're all optimistic. Thanks for all the well wishes, both private and public. And since my brain is finally coming back online, I thought I'd take a moment to offer a quick reflection on Trump's cabinet picks.

Maybe it's just me thinking like a general who is "fighting the last battle" so to speak. My last job was a turnaround effort - taking an existing company and trying to streamline and improve its decision making, fix it's systems and organization and focus it's staff on the activities to make it profitable. And with my mind set there, it looks to me like Trump is planning on doing the same.

These picks look like a man trying to build a turnaround team. He hasn't picked people who "know how to play the game" and "get along" or who are influencers inside the beltway. He isn't looking for consensus builders. He's picked people who know their space and are respected, but are like him, not interested in keeping the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, or National Review happy. He's picking leaders. Guys with vision. Guys who seem to me to be fully prepared to walk into their individual spheres and say "Yes, I know you did it that way before but the way we're going to do it now is THIS way, and if you can't live with that then your resignation is accepted and there's the door."

This isn't an instant recipe for success. The pushback in Washington at the rank and file level is going to be enormous and it's not an easy thing to change a culture of an organization. Also, if Audacious epigone can be believed, (and obviously I think he can) we're talking about the most reliably liberal group of people in America populating the halls of government. Telling them to work for a living let alone getting them to work effectively, may require setting a thousand guys with cattle prods to walking the halls. So success is not assured, but if you ask me, doing it any other way would certainly ensure failure.

When you take over a dysfunctional company, you never really know for certain who is capable but unmotivated (or being given poor direction) and who is simply incompetent. But it's an easy thing to figure out. You simply change the man at the top, empower him to pursue a real change in vision, and see who helps and who fights. You take away the existing process with it's existing rules, and those that can will adapt. Those that can't, are the people you don't want anymore.

I'm betting that the talk that Trump is having with his people is that he wants them to do the same to their areas as he is doing by appointing them. Shake it up. Produce results. Get numbers on the board. He's probably telling them to let him worry about the voters, all they have to worry about is him. And what he wants from them is results. The executive branch is finally going to have an actual executive. Not some 'go along to get along' Republican Judas Goat, Jimmy Carter style micro-manager, or a celebrity golfer in chief. We're getting a guy who wants to fix the single most dysfunctional and mismanaged organization on planet earth.

Can he pull it off? Got me. I've seen good guys fail at much easier tasks. The trouble will come the minute someone in the existing bureaucracy is seen as essential, in spite of their resistance to the new way of doing things. Then the problems will start. But for now it's looking like he's got the right people with the right ideas and the right will to actually change things up. And they all seem to be ready to ignore all the right people.

I'm hoping the first 100 days of the Trump administration can be best summed up by this fake Mad Dog Mattis quote that's been making the rounds:

"Teach a man to light a fire and he's warm for the night, light a man on fire and he's warm the rest of his life."

With any luck, we'll be able to see the bureaucrats burning for miles.

- Meanwhile In Real Life: Part 2

Final Score:

TC, JW, and The Derb: 8
Pheasants: 3

One Chukar and two quail were also fatally harmed in the making of this picture. May they rest in medium rare pieces.

On the medical front, I can’t tell you what a strange feeling it is to be plunging these needles into my flesh several times a day. It doesn’t hurt at all, though the side effects of the drug make me feel like I have a hangover in spite of abstaining from alcohol for some time now. But the psychological side of the act is well… unnatural.

I’m not jacking a vein or anything, it’s just a super tiny super thin needle that I’m injecting subcutaneously. But all my life, this was the kind of thing that others would do to me. To be doing it to yourself takes more than a little getting used to. I only have to perform the act another dozen times, so I don’t think I’ll get the chance.

My Bro is in good spirits. We facetime a couple of times a day including yesterday evening when he watched me inject myself twice, and did his best to make me laugh while I was struggling to push the plunger down. The laughter of course make the needle wobble around a little, so it causes a small amount of pain. That’s his idea of fun.

I had originally considered making a prank out of it. I was going to get a little ziplock full of fake blood and after injecting myself, I’d palm the blood bag into the area, complain about the severe pain, and go at it like Dan Akroyd as Julia Child, when she ‘cut the dickens out of her finger’. But after 6 hours of driving, plus shooting yesterday, I was just too tired. Instead, I’m sending him video of the ribs I’m making for dinner today, in order to call his attention to his diet, which will be restricted the adult equivalent of baby food for the next year or so.

The girls all think we’re being needlessly cruel to each other, but they don’t understand. By treating these otherwise serious issues with jovial disregard, we’re actually helping each other. It’s the ball breaking of the soldiers in the foxhole. It just the way men are. And we both refuse to apologize for it.

- Meanwhile In Real Life

For those of you following the exploits of our old friend R.P. (ex of Boston), Mrs. P sent me a text earlier to let us all know that he he's out of surgery (minus a donated kidney) and is doing just fine. I expect more than a few of you have gotten texts as well. All our best goes out to R, Mrs. P, the little P.'s and Mr. P Senior, who has his own drama to cope with.

My own exercise in anatomy donation is beginning tomorrow evening, immediately after I return from teaching the Pheasants of Hamburg PA, that the east coast isn't big enough for the both of us. A few regulars will be in attendance as well, but as they can't shoot - I expect to be doing all the actual killing myself.

My brother has checked into the hospital already and has begun the intense chemical process required in order to make room in his body for parts of mine. He's already bored. He's insisted that I both facetime and record my injections so he can watch them after the fact. I'm happy to do it if it keeps his spirits up.

Those are my weekend plans. Then the hospital early next week. I'm not sure how much you'll hear from me in the meantime.

- Tall Man's Burden

It turns out that Donald Trump scotch tape's the tail of his tie and the media is all a flutter:

There are hundreds of unspoken rules that govern our society, rules that are not meant to be bent or broken, and that we all must live by. One of those is: Thou shall not use Scotch tape to fix wardrobe malfunctions.

I'm six foot two. As a coincidence I attended a business function last night that required me to wear a tie. I wore it perfectly situated with my belt meeting the tie between the tip, and it's widest point, and I still had to tape it. I've had to tape ties all my life, because ties are not cut for a length suitable for men of my height. Sure, I could tie a half windsor to extend the length a little, instead of a full windsor, which as a knot consumes more of the tie length. But I don't want to look like an adolescent prep school asshole.

Charlie Feeney, founder of duty free shoppers was a billionaire, and personally responsible for ending the millennium long, Norther Irish conflict. He was also my uncle Jack's oldest friend. He famously fixed his 'wardrobe malfunctions' with safety pins, scotch tape, or whatever else would work. Is that fashion? No. Does it work? I guess that depends on your priorities.

Hillary Clinton would no doubt have had her tie custom altered by a 12 woman team of seamstresses, their hand stitched ministrations guided by careful supervision of a millionaire italian fashion designer, recently elevated to the position of Director of Whitehouse Fashion (who the press would loving call the secretary of pantsuits) . But we all know where that attitude got her.

- Embargo The Mainstream Press

This is a pretty enlightening story on Vox about how everyone is mad at the media:

The anger is easily understood: Trump’s revolution was televised — and they weren’t. Trump won. They didn’t. And for two days, at a Harvard University conference debriefing the 2016 election — an event that brings together political operatives and the press that followed them around — it was clear that everyone was mad at the media. Explosively furious.

“Trump was the entire market. When we were asked to go on, we were asked to comment on what he said,” Jeb Bush’s strategist David Kochel said.

They weren’t given the opportunity to share their message, they said. There was no airtime to convince the nation they had solutions. The media stopped them from beating Trump. These were the people on the frontline of the media’s scramble to cover Trump — and they were apoplectic.

You shouldn't pay as much attention to the who said what to who etc. Some people look inward for solutions when confronted with failure, and some people blame others. (I prefer to look inward, but it's not exactly a recipe for future success because without someone to blame it's often hard to get another chance.) But there is some important information to glean from this none the less.

First, if you want to know who 'the establishment' is, most of them were there. Those that weren't had someone there taking notes for them, or some other arrangement to know what was discussed. Second, it's revealing with regard to what 'the establishment' was doing this past year, if it wasn't overtly obvious. They picked Donald Trump to win the Republican primary, and succeed (angering the Republicans), and the picked Hillary Clinton to win the general and they failed (angering the Democrats.)

The bias there is implicit. It's unstated, but totally obvious between the lines. And what they're doing up there at Harvard is trying to figure out how to manipulate the populace more effectively next time. They have no interest in repenting their sins and telling the truth in the future. They are only interested in telling a more effective lie.

But what does it say about the Republican establishment, who knew they would all have targets on their back and submitted to the great media lie machine anyway? Why is it that every Republican candidate didn't already sound like Trump? Either they are too stupid (or maybe passive) to understand that the game is designed for them to lose, or they really are too comfortable in their role as well compensated Judas Goat to care. In some respects, it sound like this group was put together in order to convince the Republican establishment to stick with them and lose by less next time.

Romney and Rubio staffers complaining that they couldn't get their message out? What fucking planet have they been living on? When was the last time the media gave a republican an honest and fair chance to frame the discussion? And for that matter why should they? They (the media) took control of the country, they owned it. It's really the responsibility of the Republicans to take it back. But the establishment(R) simply couldn't do it. Even our talking heads (with a very few rare exceptions) are far to cowed to stand up for themselves.

Then came Trump.

Trump see's the media for exactly what they are - an enemy of traditional "America" with a shared vision so focused that there is no need for a conspiracy. They are in thrall to the academic religion of equalism, and are utterly immune to explanations of it's hypocrisy. On their best day they're useless, mindless drones incapable of self reflection, and on their worst they're monsters who would rather see this country blown to bits that admit that their vision might be wrong.

The Trump revolution isn't over - not for us, or for the media. The Democrat party needs the support of at least some of the voters, so there is a constraint on them. Their steering wheel may only go to the left, but at least it's something. But the press has nothing to pull on it. They can do or say whatever they like, and do so only when it best suits their personal agenda. The Democrat party doesn't own the press. More likely, it's the other way around.

They have no intention of giving up, and neither should we. I'm hoping Trump never gives an interview, disbands the Whitehouse Press corps, and provides all his information through online sources. I'm hoping the Republican party lauches an immediate 'news embargo' for all the mainstream sources. No CNN, no MSNBC, CBS, ABC, NYTimes, etc. Starve the beast. The next time someone in government says "...but we need the media!" he should be beaten bloody by those in attendance. That won't be enough, but maybe it will be a start.
